Off Page SEO
You may think that there is a new search engine in town – Bing. They have advertised online, on television, and even in magazines, as being the next big thing in search engines. But, if you have around awhile, you recognize who they are. They are MSN Live. The Bing search engine is actually a reincarnation of Microsoft Network’s original Live search engine which has been around for over a decade.
Because of the new name, people think that Bing is new. In a way it is, because of the technology that is used to bring results to the consumer. It is not based quite so highly on paid advertising like Google is, and it is not littered with ads like Yahoo is. The results are presented in clusters, with less advertising, making it very effective for people with limited searching skills.
As a website owner or developer, you probably think you should spend all your time concentrated on getting listed on Yahoo or Google, and yes, you have to cover those. But, you should also consider working on getting your site listed on Bing, too. Because of the amount of advertising that that Microsoft is doing, and the fact that so many people who buy new computers have their browsers already set to Bing, you should make sure that your website is submitted to the Bing search engine.
When you go about working to get your web site listed, be sure that your content is completely new (rehashed content will get you rejected from the listings), your pages are free of errors in the code, and your navigation works correctly. These will all help you to get listed easier, more often, and closer to the top – without ever having to pay any money to be there.
If Search Engine Optimization is a recipe, then Off-Page SEO would represent roughly 70% of the ingredients required to make something worth digesting. This means that 70% of the time, focus, planning, and energy should be devoted to things that happen off of the website itself, elsewhere on the internet.
It is extremely common for someone to launch a website, and say, ok we have meta tags, we have great looking graphics, we have content, why don't we have good search engine rankings?
Once you have cared for all of your On-Page elements, it is time to focus your attention to the huge chunk of Off-Page SEO work. It is also important to appreciate the fact that nothing in search engine rankings is permanent, therefore Off-Page SEO work continues repeatedly until you decide that you no longer care about Search Engine Rankings.
Imagine the scenario where your website suddenly ranks on the first page for some search term that represents the essence of your business. Imagine also, that you not only rank on the first page for that term, but you rank in the top 3 results on the first page of Google.
If this is something that you recently achieved with the help of an SEO company, do you think that your competitors (who also share space on that first page) are just going to yield and let you take over critical market share from them? Not likely. The chances are good that your competitors are also working on some sort of SEO strategy and now that you are on their radar, they will do everything that they possibly can to destroy your new found search engine glory. This is why you must persistently build links, and make sure that your Off-Page SEO strategy is constantly evolving. The key is to be repetitive, consistent, and evolutionary.
Building inbound links for your website is a cornerstone strategy for any successful SEO campaign. Inbound links will network your website with other sites and provide healthy pathways in and out of your website. If you think of your website not as a brochure, but rather as a body, the links within the website would represent the veins carrying vital traffic throughout the website.
Likewise the inbound links would be the fuel that brings traffic into your website. Without inbound links, your website starves.
It is also unhealthy for your website not to release any traffic that isn't useful. If you don't supply outgoing links, then you miss the opportunity to extend goodwill to other websites with related or interesting businesses.
Since inbound links are the fuel for SEO, you need to ensure that you are not only consistently building all kinds of new links, but that you also build high quality links.
Selecting links and vetting them for quality is the job of your friendly Search Engine Optimization company. We ensure that links built pointing to your website meet our quality standards and we ensure that by manually checking links ourselves and double checking them.
